Shanghai History
For hundreds of years Macau dominated trade with China and Japan but in time was overtaken by Hong Kong and Shanghai and many Portuguese sought better careers there. When the Japanese occupied Shanghai in 1941 they moved to Macau and Hong Kong for safety and never returned to Shanghai.
In this website we have preserved some of the records of life in Shanghai before the war, such as the magazine Pela Patria.
Durante séculos, Macau dominou o comércio com a China e o Japão, mas com o passar do tempo foi ultrapassada por Hong Kong e Xangai, e muitos portugueses procuraram melhores oportunidades de carreira nestes países. Quando os japoneses ocuparam Xangai em 1941, mudaram-se para Macau e Hong Kong em busca de segurança e nunca mais regressaram a Xangai.
Neste site, preservamos alguns registos da vida em Xangai antes da guerra, como a revista Pela Patria.
