Overview

This is a public site based on WordPress and a suite of plugins. See list of plugins Texts can be seen in either English or Portuguese on almost all pages.

The Home page has these sections: Culture, Food, History, Dialect, each with links to pages with an introduction and links to other pages, some with links going even deeper to pages with more detail. Some of these links take the user to eBooks, articles and other websites.    Read about Design

The top Menubar has items Logo , Food, Culture, History, Themes, People, Search and Language Switching (Português/English). On mobile phones these items are replaced by a hamburger  ☰ ; clicking on the mobile hamburger reveals the list of menu items. The Footer has items   About, Contact, Visitor Feedback, Privacy and Credits. Clicking on an item takes you to a page with links to more detailed pages. English and Portuguese texts are included together in pages, distinguished using HTML coding. When a user selects one language (by clicking on English or on Português on the MenuBar, all text in the other language is hidden. More about Languages.
